Book Lodging Near Terry Peak

Step1
Reserve a room in Lead or one of the other nearby South Dakota towns through the South Dakota Office of Tourism website (see Resources below). You can also reserve a room by calling. There is no on-site lodging at Terry Peak.
Step2
Enjoy a taste of Old West history when you book a room at a local hotel or bed and breakfast in nearby Deadwood. Located just 10 miles from Terry Peak, the historic town has lodging for any budget. Attractive RV sites with hook-ups, showers and laundry facilities are also available.
Step3
Spread out in a nearby vacation rental with a view of the Black Hills. Rates are somewhat pricey compared with the area's inexpensive hotel rooms, but you'll save money by cooking at least some of your meals at home. Make s'mores in your fireplace and enjoy spacious living and family rooms.

Arrange Your Transportation

Step1
Book a flight into the Rapid City Regional Airport, which is served by a few major airlines.
Step2
Rent a car or drive your own along I-90. From I-90, take U.S. Highway 85. Find directions to Terry Peak from Hwy. 85 on the Terry Peak Ski Area website (see Resources below).

Enjoy Your Ski Trip to Terry Peak

Step1
Prepare to visit the base lodge immediately once you arrive at the slopes to purchase your lift tickets, rent your desired equipment, purchase extra accessories or grab a snack.
Step2
Schedule a skiing lesson with professional instructors at the Ski & Snowboard Learning Center. Learn basic skiing or snowboarding techniques, brush up on your skills or enhance them with a private lesson.
Step3
Review the Terry Peak trail map to ensure you will confidently navigate the mountain once you arrive. Once you have an idea of where everything is located, you can fully enjoy your day of skiing instead searching for the restroom or looking for the cafe.
Step4
Determine that you have the necessary gear and clothing for the extremely cold conditions of Terry Peak. Extra long johns, thick socks and extreme cold gear are a few items you'll want to make sure you pack for your trip. Weather-proof snow clothing is a must.
Step5
Read the current ski report on the main page of the Terry Peak website.
