As the second downhill ski area to be opened in the Midwest, Hanson Hills has been thrilling ski enthusiasts and snow bunnies for over 75 years. Located in quaint Grayling, Michigan, Hanson Hills has over 125 skiable acres and a vertical drop of 225 feet. The runs at Hanson Hills are split perfectly in half by skill level--50 percent of the runs are for beginners, while the other 50 percent make up intermediate and advanced runs.

Book Accommodations Near Hanson Hills

Step1

Finalize Your Transportation

Step1
Charter a flight to nearby Otsego Regional Airport in Gaylord, Michigan. Although small, the Otsego Regional Airport can handle private, chartered flights. In addition, it is roughly 25 miles away from Hanson Hills, making travel easy and convenient.
Step2
Fly into a larger city, such as Detroit, for more flight options. Detroit is less than 200 miles away from Hanson Hills, making it less than 4 hours away by car.

Purchase your lift tickets for a Thursday, Friday or Sunday to save money. Although Saturday lift tickets are by no means expensive, you can get up to half of the regular price if you schedule your trip during the week.

Tackle the longest of the area's 9 runs, a formidable 2,800-foot slope.

Sign the entire family up for ski school and receive free equipment rentals and lift tickets for up to 6 people. The family ski school package is moderately-priced, and a great way to get the entire family pumped for the trip.
