Founded in 1926 by Col. Lewis Brittin, Northwest Airlines started flying passengers domestically in 1927, with international flights to Canada beginning in 1928. Based in Eagan, Minnesota, Northwest Airlines has three major hubs in the United States: Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport and Memphis International Airport. Northwest Airlines is the fifth largest airline today, with the third largest fleet in the world. Northwest is proud to say that they have flown more passengers across the Pacific than any other airline.

Book Your Ticket on Northwest Airlines

Step1
Book your ticket online. Northwest Airlines offers a user-friendly Web site (see Resoures below) that allows you to choose and book your ticket quickly, without extra fees.
Step2
Schedule your flight by phone. Call Northwest Airlines at (800) 225-2525 and speak directly to a Northwest representative. Have a credit card ready to book your flight.
Step3
Talk with a travel agent to arrange your flight. If you are traveling overseas and do not speak the language of that country, an agent can help you through the process. Be sure to have your flight information with departure and arrival city as well as times and dates of travel and a valid credit card available for purchase.

Choose Your Destination on Northwest Airlines

Step1
Choose your departure and arrival cities. Northwest Airlines offers domestic flights throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. In addition, Northwest offers international flights to Europe, Asia and India.
Step2
Fly codeshare to reach destinations in Asia. Northwest, in conjunction with KLM, operates transatlantic and Asia flights out of Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.
Step3
Reach regional destinations with Northwest Airlink. In conjunction with Mesaba Airlines, Pinnacle Airlines, and Compass Airlines, you can reach regional destinations such as Minneapolis, Detroit and Memphis.

Follow Northwest Air Policies

Step1
Check your luggage curbside. Northwest offers curbside check-in up to 6 hours before your departured flight. Be sure to have a photo ID available.
Step2
Familiarize yourself with Northwest's baggage regulations. Northwest allows one carry-on piece of luggage which cannot exceed 40 pounds.

Northwest offers their customers online check in. Just visit their Web site and find the link for check-in. (See Resources below.) From there just type in your last name, departure city and confirmation number.
