How to Book Train Travel From Shanghai to Hangzhou

  1. Step 1

    Visit the China Highlights Train Travel Web site (see Resources below) to find trains that run between Shangai and Hangzhou. You won't be able to book your travel on this site, but you will be able to review schedules and prices.

  2. Step 2

    Write down the train numbers and times you prefer. You'll need this information for the next step.

  3. Step 3

    Go to the China Trip Advisor Web site (see Resources below). If you're a first-time user, create a new account.

  4. Step 4

    Click on "Help Desk."

  5. Step 5

    Fill out the form on the Help Desk page. You will receive a response from customer service within 24 hours.

Tips & Warnings
  • Plan to use cash when visiting local shops in Hangzhou since many do not accept credit cards.
  • The practice of tipping isn't customary here.
