How to Book Train Travel From Madrid, Spain to Venice, Italy

Venice, Italy, also known as "The City of Water" and is considered to be one of the world's most romantic cities. If your travel plans call for a trip from Madrid to Venice by train, use these instructions to book the tickets in advance.

  • Computer with Internet access
  1. Step 1

    Book tickets at the Rail Europe Web site (see Resources below) or call (877) 257-2887. There are two legs of this journey—-from Madrid to Paris and from Paris to Venice.

  2. Step 2

    Check the train schedule from the Madrid Chamartin train station to Paris-Austerlitz (Gare d'Austerlitz). This part of the trip will take just over 13 hours.

  3. Step 3

    Select your class accommodations. Economy includes four shared sleeping berths. Premiere first class includes a private bed, shower and toilet as well as a four-course dinner and full breakfast.

  4. Step 4

    Print the confirmation page and bring it on your journey.

  5. Step 5

    Reserve the second part of your journey by repeating the above steps. This time book your travel from the Paris Bercy (Gare de Bercy) station to the Santa Lucia (Stazione Ferroviaria S. Lucia) in Venice. Make sure to leave plenty of time between your train connections.
