How to Book Train Travel From Madrid, Spain to Milan, Italy

Traveling by train is an excellent option in Europe. If you'd like to go from Madrid to Milan, book your trip in advance and you'll have one less thing to think about along the way.

Instructions

1. Book moderately priced tickets from Madrid to Milan on the RENFE Web site (see Resources below).

2. Choose the Altaria (ATR) route for the first leg of your journey. This will take you from Madrid to Barcelona.

3. Book the second half of your trip on the Talgo Elipsos (TLG), which will take you from Barcelona to Milan.

4. Purchase your train tickets using the TIKNET feature. To do so, you are required to register as a customer.

5. Print out the confirmation page and bring it with you on your trip.

Tips & Warnings

• Be aware that Madrid is served by two train stations, the Atocha station just south of the city and the Chamartin station to the north.
