How to Book Train Travel From Lisbon, Portugal to Milan, Italy

1. Book your tickets over the phone by calling RailEurope at (888) 382-RAIL. You may also book through the RailEurope Web site (see Resources below).

2. Identify which train station in Lisbon is closest to where you'll be staying so you can start your journey from there. The two largest stations are Entrecampos and Oriente.

3. Decide on your preferred class of service and whether you'd like a sleeper car.

4. Determine which discounts you qualify for, if any. Youth and senior citizens can get lower fares.

• There are many routes to Milan. The most direct is from Lisbon to Madrid and then onto Milan.
