Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

    Travel to Milan From Marseille

  1. Step 1

Buy tickets for Marseille through the Rail Europe Web site (see Resources below). Or call the reservations line at (888) 382-RAIL. In general, ticket prices are reasonable.

  2. Step 2

Prepare for a stop, even on a direct route train. The direct train to Milan stops in Nice.

  3. Step 3

Reschedule right away. If you miss your train or decide not to travel, you have 24 hours to rebook your ticket. After the 24-hour period, your ticket is nonrefundable.

  4. Step 4

Catch a plane from the train station. You'll find several stations located in airports throughout Marseille and Milan.

  5. Step 5

Pack lightly for your trip. Use the baggage carts available at the train stations if you need to. Remember the staircases that lead to other platforms in the stations. They can be daunting to a traveler weighed down by heavy luggage.

  6. Step 6

Use the metro to get to the station faster. Marseille has a metro system that a novice can easily navigate.

Tips & Warnings
  • Book your tickets online to view the latest schedules and study train policies.
  • You'll find ATM machines located at the train stations, but bring a dictionary; not all machines offer English as an option.
  • You can spontaneously catch a train in Italy, but you will pay extra for not booking in advance.
  • You can use only Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners and Switch when you book your ticket online.
  • While trains in Europe generally are safe, keep your valuables within sight at all times. Theft is a relatively common occurrence.
