1. Book the high-speed Artesia train through the Rail Europe Web site (see Resources below), or call (888) 382-RAIL. The Artesia train offers overnight service from Nice to Venice and makes a stop in Paris. Tickets are reasonably priced.

2. Get a discount. You'll qualify for reduced fares on Seine River tours, ferries and the railway system in Corsica when you purchase a France-Italy train pass.

3. Buy a discounted Europass. You can ride the famous tunnel train for a reasonable price when you book a ticket from Nice to Venice.

4. Check your eligibility before you book your trip. You may not purchase a France-Italy pass if you are a resident of Europe, the Russian Federation, Morocco, Turkey, Algeria or Tunisia.

5. Take notes on the extra charges that apply to travel on certain trains, including the Eurostar and the Artesia. You may pay small fees for items such as delivery charges and luggage.

6. Save your receipts. If you need a refund for any reason, you must show your receipts to get your money.
