Things You'll Need:
- Computer with Internet access
- Passport
-
Step 1
Go to the Visit Denmark Web site to search for accommodations in Jutland and book online (see Resources below). In the United States, call (212) 885-9700 if you'd like booking assistance from a tourism office representative.
-
Step 2
Find reasonable accommodations in Aalborg, the biggest town in Jutland. A quaint room can be obtained for relatively inexpensive rates.
-
Step 3
Step into the past. Aalborg is home to one of Scandinavia's largest Viking burial grounds.
-
Step 4
Book in advance. North Jutland, despite its extreme beauty (it has inspired generations of famous Danish painters), does not have plentiful accommodations.
-
Step 1
Enjoy the countryside. Jutland is mostly rural, with urban centers dotted throughout. The largest urban center is Arhus, which has substantial nightlife and hotels of all kinds.
-
Step 2
Find a number of midpriced hotel accommodations in Arhus. Several notable luxury properties are available in the area as well, at steeper rates.
-
Step 3
Take day excursions to the beaches at Esbjerg and Fano from your base at Arhus.
-
Step 1
Enjoy the great outdoors! Nature abounds in Jutland, and the beaches are excellent. Campgrounds are therefore plentiful. They also represent an economical alternative to the comparatively expensive hotels in Arhus.
-
Step 2
Stay in Aalborg or find a beach campsite if you're vacationing in North Jutland near Skagen.
-
Step 1
Choose among three ways to get to Jutland. You can fly straight into Copenhagen, the capital; you can take a charter flight; or you can board a ferry back west to Jutland.
-
Step 2
Fly into a major European hub like London and then charter a flight. That's the fastest option.
-
Step 3
Fly into Germany (probably Hamburg), rent a car and drive in. Renting is generally much more reasonably priced in Germany than it is in Denmark. Plus, a car gives you unlimited access to Jutland.
