From a BlackBerry, you can browse the Internet, send messages, call your friends, play games and take pictures. After mastering that, though, can you figure out how to save and retrieve contact information? If you want to organize your phone numbers and lists, manage contacts in your BlackBerry phone by following these simple steps.

From Quick Guide: Use Your BlackBerry
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wireless service
  • BlackBerry
  1. Step 1

Start organizing contacts in your phone book by pressing the "Menu" key on the Home screen of your BlackBerry. From the list of different options, choose "Address Book."

  2. Step 2

Press the "Menu" key in the New Address screen. Hit "New Address" if you want to add a new contact or "Edit" to change a saved contact.

  3. Step 3

Type the contact information. You can save up to three phone numbers per contact.

  4. Step 4

Customize a contact by adding a picture and a specific ringtone. Click the trackball and select "Add Custom Phone Tune" or the "Add Picture" key.

  5. Step 5

Save the contact. Click the trackball and press "Save" to update the information.

Tips & Warnings
  • Important contacts should have their own ringtones. Customizing your contact's ringtone will help you identify a caller easily and will decrease the chance of ignoring an important call.
  • Use the "Find" option found in the address book screen to search for a person's contact details.
  • You can find more information about your BlackBerry at the company's official Web site (see Resources below).
  • The number of contacts as well as pictures and messages you can save on your BlackBerry depends on its memory capacity. Too much data and input may cause the device to slow due to a full memory. Check the features and memory capacity before buying a BlackBerry device. Carry a compatible memory card for added data storage.
