Have a few photos ruined by red-eye? Some pictures perfect except they're a shade too dark? Just follow these steps to adjust your photos with Windows Photo Gallery in Microsoft Vista.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Digital photos
  • Printer
  • Windows Vista operating system
  1. Step 1

Turn on your computer and launch the Windows Photo Gallery program.

  2. Step 2

Select the photo you want to edit. Open the file either from your files folder or in the Photo Gallery, which offers an Instant Search that quickly locates your photos.

  3. Step 3

Edit the picture. Choose the "Fix" menu and a tool box will appear on the right. Choose the appropriate fix from the program's editing tools, which include "Auto Adjust," "Adjust Exposure," "Adjust Color," "Crop Picture" and "Fix Red Eye."

  4. Step 4

Don't worry about saving your changes. Any adjustments made in the Windows Photo Gallery Viewer are saved automatically, but the Photo Gallery also keeps an original copy of your pictures.

  5. Step 5

Print the photo. You can send the image to your own printer or click "Online Printing" from the "File" menu.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use the auto adjust option to automatically fix the color and exposure of your photo.
  • Fix all of those red eyes with the Photo Gallery's red eye correction tool, and improve the composition of your photo with the crop tool.
  • The Windows Photo Gallery has no save button so it automatically saves any changes you made to your pictures. However, the program keeps an unedited copy of your picture, and you can always click the Undo button to cancel any changes.
  • Although the program automatically stores an unedited copy of your original picture, it is best to save an extra copy of a photo before editing it. Choose the "Fix" menu, and click "Duplicate."
