Creating a 4th of July centerpiece can be a fun and creative experience for either yourself or for you to share with your children. The process of creation really begins with you and what you want to adorn your 4th of July table.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Decide what type of centerpiece fits with the atmosphere you want to create.
Step2
Decide how much money you want to spend on the centerpiece.
Step3
Make a drawing of the centerpiece you are interested in creating to see what the finished product will look like as well as to decide what materials you will need.
Step4
Choose the dimensions for the base that will give you the centerpiece size you want. The base can be used as is or it can be covered in wrapping paper, tinfoil, fabric, or you may want to paint it in any single color or multiple colors.
Step5
Think about how you are going to support whatever you put into your base i.e. flags on sticks, sparklers, Roman candles, bottle rockets, bows or ribbons. A support material might be florist foam that has been attached to the bottom of the base with glue or super sticky double-faced tape.
Step6
Purchase your supplies and materials at a craft or hobby store. You may be able to find some of the materials around your home or at stores that sell seasonal items.
Step7
Make the centerpiece base. If it needs time to dry, set it aside and work on any parts of the decorations you are going to put in the base (bows, ribbons, tissue paper or flowers).
Step8
Attach the florist foam to the inside of your base and attach your decorations, making sure that they are balanced and well distributed. A good rule of thumb is to arrange your decorations so that they look like they are in the shape of an equilateral triangle or a well sculpted Christmas tree.
Step9
If there are spaces between the decorations, where you can see the florist foam, fill these in with ribbons, bows or tissue paper that has been scrunched.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want to create a patriotic theme, think about using flags. If you are interested in a theme related to fireworks, you could use the real thing in your centerpiece. You may also want to consider going with a basic color scheme of red, white and blue without using any big decorations.
