Choosing a minister to officiate a wedding is of utmost importance. In large part, this is the person who will determine the content of your vows, or at least allow you to say vows you have written for each other. Follow these steps when choosing a minister to officiate your wedding.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Decide what type of wedding you would like to have.
Step2
If you are already a member of a church and will be marrying in that church, the presiding minister will more than likely perform the ceremony.
Step3
Sometimes churches will allow a minister who does not work at a church to perform a ceremony. However, these instances are very rare. Be sure to check with the church office for regulations on this matter.
Step4
When considering a minister, you will need to talk with this person to determine his or her beliefs concerning marriage and each person's role in the marriage. These beliefs should align with yours.
Step5
Choose a minister both you and your intended are comfortable with. If you are not comfortable with the minister, awkward situations could arise.
Step6
If you come from different faith backgrounds, it is acceptable to have two ministers representing two different faiths at a wedding. Again, be sure to check on church or other location policies and communicate your wishes at the very beginning of the meeting.
