How to Plan a Summer Trip to Capri

Capri is a beautiful island just off the coast of Italy, so not European vacation should be complete without a trip to this Mediterranean paradise. Luckily, traveling to Capri is not difficult, so you should be able to plan a summer trip to Capri without much trouble.

• Hotel reservations
• Dinner reservations
• Tourist information (reservations optional)
• Flight reservations

1. Choose your vacation dates. You'll need to plan according to how much time it will take you to travel to Capri.
2. Book a flight. Many airlines fly into Italy, so this should not be difficult, no matter where you live.
3. Get your passport six to nine months before your trip.
4. Check with a doctor to see if you require any immunizations to travel to Capri.
5. Make hotel reservations.
6. Pick up tourist information about attractions in Capri and the rest of Italy. You can make reservations to these things in advance or just choose to spend your days free from a schedule and visit places at will.
7. Make dinner reservations. This is not necessary every night, but if you want to try popular restaurants, you may wish to call ahead about at least one meal.
8. Call to confirm flight and hotel reservations about a week before you leave.

Tips & Warnings

• Arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight is scheduled.
• Have a back up plan for activities in case of bad weather, construction, full reservations, or cancellations.
• You can rent a car from the airport if you don't want to hire a taxi or use a bus to take you to and from the hotel.
• Wear sunscreen when outside, especially during very sunny summer days.
• Make sure to drink plenty of water, since Capri is often very hot in the summertime. Remember to ask for bottled water, as the tap water can make tourists sick.
• Check with your airport to see what is allowed and not allowed in your luggage and what can be taken into and out of Italy.
