How to Find a VFW Hall

With roots tracing back to 1899, the Veterans of Foreign Wars is an organization for retired military personnel from all of the wars in the United States. Local groups that are part of the organization often have meetings and fundraisers in the local VFW hall. If you'd like to support this organization or become a member, you can find a VFW hall fairly easily.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Contact information for organizers
  • A phone book, the Internet, or a friend who is a VFW member
  1. Step 1

    Search the Yellow Pages for VFW halls in your area.

  2. Step 2

    Ask a member of the VFW for information in regards to the nearest VFW hall.

  3. Step 3

    Visit "The Official Site of the Veterans of Foreign Wars" to search for a post within a certain zip code.

  4. Step 4

    Call the number listed at one of the above sites to reach a contact for the post.

  5. Step 5

    Ask for directions and information regarding when the post will be open, when meetings are held, and how to register.

Tips & Warnings
  • Only veterans can join the VFW. You must be retired from the military and be able to show records of your time at war.
  • As new battles and wars occur, the requirements to join the VFW are updated to include new veterans.
  • Most posts have a Lady's Auxiliary for wives of members.
  • Always be respectful of members.
