If you're a colonial history buff, you are probably interested in the Revolutionary War. Fought throughout the eastern United States, the battles of this war are often memorialized at the battlefields, in small towns and at fairs in reenactments. You can also participate by finding a reenactment near you.

Contact a local reenactment group and ask for information on upcoming events.

Check newspaper advertisements to find out if there will be reenactments are any fairs, carnivals, or other events in your area.

Call battlefield sites. Often, they have tourist information about reenactments that will be taking place throughout the year.

Search the Internet for events featuring reenactments.

Compile all of your information to verify dates and times.

Choose a battle that interests you. Reenactments that are popular include Valley Forge and Lexington/Concord.

Arrive early in order to get the full effect and to tour the battlefield or participate in other events occurring in conjunction with the reenactment.
Wear sunscreen and bring plenty of water. Reenactments usually take place outside, and often at very hot times of the year.
Reenactments are not for the faint of heart. Often they include fake blood and other theatrics to make the gruesome scene come to life.
