1. Look through the classifieds or yellow pages for cake designers in your area. You can also search online to find designers and bakers.

3. Set up your interviews and schedule them so you can fit everyone in. In most cases, you should be able to go to the designer’s office to properly conduct an interview.
4. Go to your different interviews. First give the designer a detailed description of what you’ve determined you want so far, and see what sort of feedback they give you.
5. Ask the designer questions about their designing process: what sorts of things they like to put into a cake, how long it typically takes them, how much experience they have, etc. This would be a good time to ask about ingredients if you have any food allergies.
