You can spend Independence Day in the Prairie State of Illinois. Throughout the state, there are various celebrations and festivities that take place on the Fourth of July. Look to your home town’s Web site or local newspaper to find out what festivities your town is hosting, or search for information in neighboring towns. Below is a list of a few ways you can celebrate the 4th of July in Illinois.

    Take the kids to a local Illinois county fair for a day of fun, family and rides!

  2. Step 2

    Go to your Illinois hometown’s 4th of July Parade.

  3. Step 3

    Go to a friend’s 4th of July party.

  4. Step 4

    Plan a party of your own—invite friends over to your home for a barbecue and have some fun.

  5. Step 5

    Go to the local fireworks display or let off your own in the evening.

Tips & Warnings
  • Enjoy yourself, but be safe during your celebrations.
  • If you are drinking at a party, designate a driver that will stay sober so you can all get home safely. If you don’t have a designated driver, call a taxi cab.
  • If you are serving alcohol at your 4th of July party in Illinois, make sure you don’t let your friends drive home drunk.
