Creating blocks on your computer to censor out Web pages isn’t a bad idea, especially if you have children. There are a few ways that you can still surf the censored Web pages without letting your children surf them as well.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Password

Use Password Control Options

Step1
Chances are, you’ve censored the Web pages yourself and have created a password to block them from your children.
Step2
When you hit a restricted site, type in the password you used.

Adjust your Security Options

Step1
You can reset your security on your computer to allow more types of Web pages to be visible.
Step2
Open your Internet Explorer browser.
Step3
Click on “Tools” then “Internet Options.”
Step4
Click on the “Security” tab.
Step5
Click on the Internet icon.
Step6
Slide the security tab to a lower setting.
Step7
Click “Ok.”

Tips & Warnings

  • If your child is particularly computer-savvy and censoring is an issue they’re not happy with, be aware that they may be able to use a keylogger to capture your password.
  • You can set up multiple accounts on a Windows computer—this is a good idea if you have children who also access the Internet. You can set their censorship on their login different from the one on the admin (yours).
