How to Make Spare Ribs

You can make great spare ribs in your oven—no need for a barbecue or grill for this recipe. This recipe has a long cooking time, but there’s no risk of the sauce burning as long as the oven temperature is correct. This is a slightly unconventional recipe but it makes great ribs and it’s very easy.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ribs slabs
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Ribs slabs
  • Aluminum foil or baking sheet
  • Oven
  1. Step 1

    Preheat your oven to 225 degrees F (110 degrees C).

  2. Step 2

    Coat ribs in barbecue sauce.

  3. Step 3

    Place on an oven rack.

  4. Step 4

    Put aluminum foil or a baking sheet underneath the ribs to catch any drips.

  5. Step 5

    Cook for 4 1/2 to 5 hours (or around 4 hours for baby back ribs).

  6. Step 6

    Cut the ribs along the bone with a sharp knife before serving.

Tips & Warnings
  • This recipe works best with pork spare ribs and baby back ribs.
  • It’s best to experiment with half a slab of ribs before making this recipe for guests. The true temperature of your oven may vary slightly so you may end up needing to adjust the cooking time.
