How to Make Corn Bread

This corn bread recipe is very easy to make, and tastes great served with soup or chili.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • Eggs
  • Sugar
  • Milk
  • Salt
  • Baking powder
  • All-purpose flour
  • Cornmeal
  • Shortening
  1. Step 1

    Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).

  2. Step 2

    Combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt in a mixing bowl.

  3. Step 3

    Add the milk, eggs and shortening.

  4. Step 4

    Beat for one minute.

  5. Step 5

    Pour the mixture into a greased 9-inch square baking pan.

  6. Step 6

    Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the bread is golden brown.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can spice up this simple recipe in a variety of ways. Consider adding one or two of the following: cheese, corn kernels, red pepper, sun-dried tomatoes or cayenne pepper.
