Publish Your Podcast on Blogger.com

Creating your own podcast adds another level to blogging. Not only can you share your thoughts through words, but through audio as well. If you're new to podcasting, Blogger.com is a great place to start publishing your podcast. Not only is it free, but it's pretty straightforward and easy, so you have the freedom to experiment and learn. After you've created your mp3 file and put it on your server, here's how you can publish your audio file as an enclosure on Blogger.com.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • computer
  • your completed podcast mp3 files
  • internet connection
  • a server or other hosting for your mp3 files
  1. Step 1

Click on www.blogger.com, and create a blog if you don't have one yet. To do so, click on "Create Your Blog Now" and fill out the form to create an account. If you already have a blog, skip to Step 6.

  2. Step 2

It will take you to a "Name Your Blog" page, where you will need to type in a name for your blog, as well as the desired URL you would like for your blog. This is what people will use to look at your blog and link it. It will likely be "yourblogname.blogspot.com."

  3. Step 3

Next, you will be asked to type in a "Word Verification" for security purposes.

  4. Step 4

The next step involves choosing a template for your blog.

  5. Step 5

Now, after you hit Continue, Blogger will create your blog. After it's done, you'll be able to post things on it.

  6. Step 6

Before you enter a post on Blogger.com, you need to make sure your podcast mp3 file is already on your server. Save it onto your server and get the URL, because you need that URL to link it to your blog post.

  7. Step 7

From the Dashboard page, click "New Post" and type in your title.

  8. Step 8

Now there are two ways you can do this. You can write up an entry and provide a link within the entry. To do this, create a text link with the link tool, and type in the URL of your mp3 file.

  9. Step 9

Or, you can just create a post that only consists of the link. Go to Settings/Formatting page and set "Show Link Field" to "Yes." Then, underneath the Title: box, there should be a Link: box where you can type in your URL.

  10. Step 10

Before you finish, go back up to Settings/Basic to add a description of your site and your podcast.

  11. Step 11

    Publish your post.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't forget to add your descriptions. This is your chance to explain your podcast to your listeners, as well as providing keywords by topic so that people can search for your podcast.
  • Remember to double check that your links are working after you publish.
