Cinco de Mayo--the Mexican celebration paying tribute to a victory over French forces in 1862--is the perfect excuse for a fabulous fiesta. As a sports fanatic, of course, it’s your obligation to take things to another level.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Spend weeks in advance creating a large and colorful piñata of your favorite sports mascot—such as a Miami Dolphin or New York Met. Then, on Cinco de Mayo, blindfold yourself, grab a bat, and bash it. Instead of candy, fill it with beer.

  2. Step 2

Create a Diego Rivera-style epic mural on the largest wall in your home depicting your favorite sports moment of all time, or be ambitious and work in numerous memorable sports memories.

  3. Step 3

Buy a twelve-pack of Mexican beer and watch Mexican soccer and bullfighting DVDs all day.

  4. Step 4

Start a Mexican Sports Hall of Fame in your garage, painting Frida Kahlo-inspired portraits of all-time Mexican sports legends such as Fernando Valenzuela, Julio Caesar Chavez and, of course, the great wrestler Nacho Libre.

  5. Step 5

Fly to Acapulco and jump off a cliff like the famous divers of the area, some of the greatest athletes around.

  6. Step 6

Indulge in a traditional sport of Mexico, Charreria, a sort of Spanish-style rodeo. You need several horses and riders, traditional Mexican cowboy clothing, and a mariachi band. Hey, do you want to do this right or don’t you?

Tips & Warnings
