If you ever want to get married in Idaho, apply for the marriage license on a weekday. One of the few states to have different rates for licenses based on the day of the week, Idaho is otherwise a very marriage-friendly state.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • marriage license
  • flowers
  • entertainment
  • wedding venue
  • wedding official
  • decorations
  • food
  • reception venue
  1. Step 1

Begin with the guest list. Once you make a list of family and friends, you have a good idea of how big the wedding will be.

  2. Step 2

Let the size of the wedding guide your choice of a suitable place for the ceremony and the reception. Although a church is a common location for a wedding, it is not the only location to get hitched.

  3. Step 3

Schedule the services of an authorized wedding official. Ministers, preachers and officials of the court are all examples of people able to legally perform a wedding ceremony.

  4. Step 4

Arrange for catering and entertainment for the reception. Also, you will want to finalize the details for flowers, decorations and clothing, as well as order wedding invitations.

  5. Step 5

Send wedding invitations. While waiting for the response, double-check details.

  6. Step 6

Apply for a marriage license. This currently costs $28, and is valid for 1 year after being issued.

  7. Step 7

Have the ceremony. Enjoy your honeymoon.

Tips & Warnings
  • A marriage license costs more on Saturdays than during the week. On Saturdays, the price jumps to $45.
  • Although neither you nor your future spouse needs to take any kind of physical examination to get a marriage license, both of you have to sign for receipt of a brochure about AIDS.
  • Children under 16 cannot be married without a court order. Children at least 16 years old can get married with parental consent.
