Step 1
Determine the theme of your wedding. A theme is a set of unifying elements that give a unique character to the wedding. A beach-themed wedding, for example, would incorporate images and items of the beach into the ceremony and reception.
-
Step 2
Think about the colors, images and items that you associate with the theme. For a beach theme, you may think of bright primary colors--especially blue and yellow--seagulls against the sky and beach balls.
-
Step 3
Look for favors that incorporate these colors, images and items. Don’t judge the favors at this point, just make a list of what is available.
-
Step 4
Narrow down the list based on your budget. Now, whittle down the list of choices using your personal taste as a guide.
-
Step 5
Acquire a few samples of the remaining favors. Arrange them on the table as your guests will see them at the wedding or reception. Compare the impact that each favor makes.
-
Step 6
Select the favor or combination of favors that makes the best presentation and still fits the theme of your wedding.
