A candle lights the darkness, but a wedding candle lights the heart. If you are trying to select candles to give as wedding reception favors, you should review your other decorative choices for the wedding before you shop. Harmonizing your choice of candles with your colors and theme adds an extra touch of care and elegance to your reception.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a shop that offers a selection of candles in different colors and styles. You are trying to match the candle to the theme of your wedding.

  2. Step 2

Choose candles that match the colors of your wedding. If the colors match, the candle will fit in as a proper gift at the reception.

  3. Step 3

Select a candle shape that makes sense with the rest of your wedding reception décor. Votive-style candles may work for your wedding, or you may prefer a slender taper.

  4. Step 4

Shop for a candle holder that looks good, and makes the candle look even better. The candle holder can also be customized with engravings or other decoration.

  5. Step 5

Pick decorative accents for the candle. This can be as simple as a bow around the candle holder, or as baroque as carved wax cartouches which are sculpted into the candle’s surface.

  6. Step 6

Match up the candle to the holder and accents. Try all possible combinations until you get the right match.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also choose colors that will complement your wedding colors. For example if you have blue as your primary wedding color, you might be able to find an orange candle which will complement your chosen color scheme.
  • Extra points if you provide some way of getting the candles home without being broken. A low-rent solution is to package the candles inside of a discarded paper towel tube, and then pack the interior with tissue paper.
  • Be aware that some of your guests may have sensitivities to perfumes and may have a reaction to candles that are scented.
