How to Get a Texas Real Estate License

Real estate licenses in Texas are controlled by the Texas Real Estate Commission, or TREC. If you want to become a real estate agent in Texas, follow the guidelines as outlined on their Web site.

Instructions

1. Meet the residency requirements. You must be at least 18, and be both a legal resident of the United States and of Texas.

2. Take the correct courses as outlined on the Web site listed in the Resources section.

3. Submit your education records along with the assessment fee. This must be done before submitting an application.

4. Submit an application along with the fee required.

5. Take the required test.

6. Arrange for sponsorship by a holder of an active license.
