How to Fight
Fighting is not recommended for resolution of conflict, however if you feel the need to fight in competition or self-defense, it is good to know a few basics. Your goal in self-defense is to distract your assailant with pain so that you can get away. Here are a few tips.

1
Break the nose by ramming the heel of your hand into the nose in an upward motion. The elbow is acceptable if you are attacked from behind.
-
2
Knee or kick the groin. Even if you are attacked by a woman, this will cause a great deal of pain.

3
For a rear assault, an elbow to the solar plexus will knock the wind out of your assailant. To find this spot on yourself, feel along your rib cage until you come to the point where the cage meets and closes. You will notice that pressure in this spot causes discomfort.
-
4
Stomp on the top of the foot. This is especially helpful for women wearing heels.
-
5
If someone has you in a headlock (this is not for friendly wrestling) make a fist with your thumbs sticking up and pound on the face behind you. The goal is to gouge eyes with your thumbs.
-
6
If a hand is over your mouth, do not be afraid to bite hard.
-
7
A punch or chop to the throat will floor your opponent, however this move can be deadly, and the spot is hard to hit in an assault. Use it as a last resort.

Tips & Warnings
Fighting is not a solution for petty squabbles. Save the skills for when you really need them.
Practice gently with friends so that your reactions will become instinctive.
Your best defense is your voice. Shout for an assailant to stay back. Most of them will be shocked enough to stop advancing. If they continue to come at you, a kick to their knee will stop them.
Join a Karate class or other fighting class to learn more.
DO NOT use these skills to go out and start fights. Don't fight except in defense of your life.
Never kick wildly or scratch at your assailant. This will tire you out while doing almost no damage. Aim and plant your fists, elbows and feet for best effect.
