• Certified divorce decree or death certificate for any previous marriages
• Identification
• Social Security Card
• Cash

1. Collect the birth certificate, driver’s license, military ID or valid passport for both the bride and groom.

2. Collect social security cards for both the bride and groom.

3. Gather certified final divorce decrees if either or both parties have been married previously. Alternatively, a certificate of death of a previous spouse should be obtained.

4. Visit the North Dakota State Web site to find the link to the county office where ceremony will take place.

5. Visit the county Web site to find offices in the county.

6. Head to the most convenient county office with bride, groom, documentation (including premarital certificate) and $35 in cash within 60 days before the ceremony.

• Minors 16 and 17 years old may marry with notarized parental consent.
• The marriage license must be applied for in the county where the ceremony will take place.
