The online marketplace can be a great benefit to you when you and your fiancé are setting wedding plans. Digital photography is the mainstay of the business today, and just about any photographer worthy of hiring is going to have rates, schedules, samples and references available online, which will save you a great deal of time. Here are some steps to hire a wedding photographer online.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • computer
  1. Step 1

Set a date with your fiancé. Everything else you will be planning with your wedding will hinge on the date you select. The photographer’s schedule and availability also depends on your date.

  2. Step 2

Search through your local online Yellow Pages, or run a standard search of “wedding photographers in the area.” This will pull up a list of photographers offering their services for your wedding.

  3. Step 3

Look through the Web sites of each, noting that particular photographer’s experience in wedding photography. Look at their sample pictures and note the quality of shots they have produced.

  4. Step 4

Keep a running list of the pros and cons of each photographer. You will see they likely differ in price, and quality of their final product. Set a list of a few final candidates, and record the contact information you can find on their site.

  5. Step 5

Sit down with the final candidates and discuss your wedding. Know what you are looking for going into each meeting, and see which candidate best fits your needs while keeping it affordable.

  6. Step 6

Hire the photographer who most impresses you and your fiancé, making sure that person is available for the date of your wedding. If you are hiring a company, make sure you know which photographer will be shooting your wedding.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make hiring a photographer one of the first decisions you and your fiancé make together. A good photographer has several wedding jobs over the course of the summer, so you want to make sure you book far in advance, if possible.
  • Most photographers will charge a flat fee to attend the wedding and shoot pictures. You then purchase the specific pictures you want at the sizes you want after it.
  • Check out a photographer’s references, if available. Character is of huge importance, so make sure you are hiring a true professional.
  • Be sure to note, when interviewing, whether or not the particular photographer will be the person at your wedding, or, if you go through a company, they assign a particular photographer based on the company’s availability.
