Wedding invitations are inevitable, and mailing them can be pricey. There are some ways that you can cut costs of mailing wedding invitations. Consider all of the different ways to save before ordering your invitations. Saving money on postage also depends on the kind of invitation that you purchase. Below are some tips to save on postage for your wedding invitations.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • invitations
  • stamps
  1. Step 1

Keep invitations to one sheet of cardstock. Many extra layers will add to the weight and will require extra postage. Find a style that is still suitable to your taste and the theme of your wedding, but eliminate the bulk.

  2. Step 2

Eliminate RSVP cards. This is sometimes hard to do, if you need an exact head count for your caterer. If this is not a necessity, you will eliminate the bulk of the extra card and the postage on that card also.

  3. Step 3

Purchase invitations that are standard envelope size. If they are over-sized, they will require extra postage to mail them.

  4. Step 4

Hand-deliver as many invitations as you can. This will eliminate the postage on it entirely. Take this as an opportunity to visit people and personally invite them to your wedding.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take a sample invitation and envelope to the post office to see how much it weighs; this will help you to estimate the cost of mailing for the rest of them.
  • If you need to have RSVP cards, consider postcards. These will not require an envelope and they are cheaper to mail.
  • Don’t have your invitations be too small. They could easily get lost in the mail.
  • Avoid unique or creative ways to send your invitations. Anything other than the standard envelope will cost you more in postage.
