When picking out flowers for a wedding, you need to find the right flower for the groomsmen’s boutonnières. They could be a smaller version of the groom’s, or a different flower all together. Follow these steps to choose a flower for the groomsmen’s boutonnières.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide if you are going to use real or fake flowers. Using real flowers will give you a more realistic look for the boutonnière, while fake flowers will be easier to preserve and work with.

  2. Step 2

Research and find out what flowers are in season for your wedding. You will be able to save a lot of money if they are in season and do not need to be shipped in from elsewhere.

  3. Step 3

Pick out flowers specifically to be used for boutonnières and corsages when deciding on your wedding flowers. You want the flowers to match the overall theme and colors of the wedding.

  4. Step 4

Look for colors and textures in the flowers that will compliment the bridesmaids' dresses and the groomsmen’s cummerbunds. The bridesmaids and groomsmen should look like a pair.

Tips & Warnings
  • Look for flowers or other foliage that is simple, but still follows the theme of your wedding.
  • Find flowers that are in season. This is a major tip when trying to save money.
  • Although real flowers may be pretty, they might not be able to withstand the long hours of the day. Be prepared for wilting boutonnières.
