Planning a wedding is an exciting but busy time, so be sure you don't forget your marriage license. Here's how to apply for a marriage license in Wyoming:

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Identification
  • Cash
  1. Step 1

Choose the date and location for your wedding. After that, go to the County Clerk's Office and apply for a marriage license (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Be ready to show proof of your age by providing a birth certificate or driver's license. You will also need to supply such information about your parents as their places of birth and your mother's maiden name.

  3. Step 3

Bring a parent or guardian with you if you are younger than 18 to provide a verbal assent or written approval that must signed by a witness. In either case, the addresses and social security numbers of all parties will need to be recorded.

  4. Step 4

Apply alone if your spouse-to-be cannot attend with you. However, you must provide all the required information for your partner, including copies of a driver's license and social security card. You must also provide a witness who can verify that both you and your partner can legally marry.

  5. Step 5

Provide necessary paperwork if you are divorced or a previous spouse is deceased. You must provide a certfied copy of the dissolution of marriage or death certificate.

Tips & Warnings
  • There’s no waiting time to marry after receiving your license, and it’s good for an entire year.
  • Expect to pay about $25 for your license. Cash is usually required for payment.
  • Marriage between cousins and proxy, common-law and same-sex marriages are illegal in Wyoming.
  • Marrying under the age of 16 is not permitted without a court order.
