The Grand Canyon State is indeed a grand place to be. The spectacular desert beauty in Arizona is jaw-dropping, and it’s easy to see why many couples choose to get married there. If you’re planning on doing the same, here’s how to get married in Arizona:

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Marriage license
  • Identification
  1. Step 1

Get an Arizona marriage license at the county clerk's office (see Resources below). You'll need $25 in cash, a certified copy of your birth certificate and your driver’s license.

  2. Step 2

Find an officiant to perform your wedding ceremony. Choose a member of the clergy or public official empowered by the state to perform marriages (like a justice of the peace).

  3. Step 3

Plan your theme and decorations. Most weddings are organized around a color scheme that extends to the attire, flowers, table settings and even the invitations.

  4. Step 4

Set a date for your wedding. Choose where you want the ceremony and reception to be. They should, ideally, be close to one another to avoid having your wedding party and guests spend too much time driving from one locale to the other.

  5. Step 5

Make your guest list. The more guests you invite, the more your wedding will cost. Send the invitations with an RSVP required.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your marriage license will remain valid for one year after you receive it.
  • There is no waiting period for obtaining a marriage license in the state of Arizona; you can get married the same day you apply for it.
  • If you’re under 16, you’ll need a court order to acquire a license. If you’re 16 or 17, you’ll need your parents to be present at the county clerk’s office to give their consent.
  • Same-sex marriages are not allowed in Arizona. Marriage between cousins is permitted if the partners are over 65 or can prove their sterility.
