How to Change the Audio Settings of the Sony DVP-F41MS CD/DVD Player

By changing the audio settings of your Sony DVP-F41MS CD/DVD player, you can get better sound quality. For doing this, you need to set AUDIO ATT (attenuation), AUDIO DRC (dynamic range control), DOWNMIX, and DIGITAL OUT. Some of the settings are selected by default. You can make the changes as per your choice and suitability. Here is how to change the Audio Settings of the Sony DVP-F41MS CD/DVD Player:

Preparing for Audio Setup

Step1
Press "Stop" to bring the player in the stop mode. This will facilitate viewing of the Control Menu on the screen.
Step2
Choose "Setup" option from the Control Menu by pressing the Up and Down arrows on the remote. Press "Enter."
Step3
Select "Audio Setup" from the Setup display.

Change the Audio ATT (Attenuation)

Step1
Choose "Audio ATT" from the Audio Setup.
Step2
Keep it "On" so that it will clear jarring sound and decrease the audio output level. Prefer this option when you get an unclear sound from the speakers.
Step3
Select "Off" to turn off the Audio Attenuation. This option gets selected by default.

Change the Audio DRC (Dynamic Range Control)

Step1
Select "Audio DRC" from the Audio Setup. This will improve the sound quality coming from a DVD.
Step2
Choose "Standard" to get the normal sound. This function often gets selected by default.
Step3
Select "TV Mode." This will give clear sound even when the volume is low. Prefer this option when you are listening to the sound with speakers of the TV.
Step4
Opt for "Wide Range." This will create a sound effect similar to a live performance. In order to improve the sound quality further, you may use high quality speakers.

Change Downmix

Step1
Select "Downmix" from the Audio Setup. This will change the mixing down methods while playing a DVD on which Rear (left), Rear (right) or Rear (monaural) are recorded in the Dolby Digital format.
Step2
Go for "Dolby Surround" when the audio component is compliant with Dolby Surround or Pro Logic. The output signals are downmixed with two channels. This option gets selected by default.
Step3
Prefer "Normal" when the audio component does not go with Dolby Surround. The output signals are downmixed to two channels without Dolby Surround (Pro Logic) effect.

Change Digital Out

Step1
Select "Digital Out" from the Audio Setup. Choose this option when audio signals are given out through Digital Out (Optical) jack.
Step2
Choose the "On" button and set Dolby Digital and DTS.
Step3
Press "Off" if you do not want the player to output the audio signal through Digital Out (Optical) jack.

Tips & Warnings

  • These options work only while playing a DVD that has an Audio DRC facility.
