Lake Michigan. Lake Superior. And a number of smaller lakes as well. It's not hard to find a quiet beach area in Michigan.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Head to the Hart-Silver Lake/Mears area of Michigan, and plan to spend some time at the Whiskey Creek Public Access Beach. You're sure to find a quiet place to relax at this beach that's separated from the parking area by sand dunes.
Step2
Consider John Gurney Park on Hart Lake near the downtown Hart area.
Step3
Consider Covert Park Beach if you're closer to South Haven or St. Joseph in southwest Michigan.
Step4
Take your pick of quiet beach areas in Traverse City, especially if you head a little bit out of town to the beaches at Elk Rapids.
Step5
Consider West End Beach at the end of Division Street if you'd rather just stay in Traverse City.

Tips & Warnings

  • Beaches are less crowded in the mornings and evenings than in the afternoons; and you are also more likely to find a quiet beach on a weekday than during the weekend.
  • Looking for a slightly longer getway? Consider a camping trip to any of the lakeside camping areas.
  • If red warning flags are displayed at the beaches to let visitors know there is a dangerous current, stay out of the water.
