Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Consider a quiet beach near Bar Harbor. While there are not sandy beaches to speak of, the rocky Atlantic coast offers quiet places to take in the see at Acadia National Park. Hike to remote areas and you are likely to have a bit of the shoreline all to yourself.
Step2
Consider traveling to the Penobscot River Corrider if you are near Bangor. The area is remote, but offers a large amount of undeveloped shorelines of both rivers and lakes.
Step3
Consider the Holbrook Island Sanctuary on Cape Rosier if you are trying to find a quiet beach near the central coast of Maine. There is parking available, but the area is remote.
Step4
Consider Cape Neddick Beach if you are on the southern Maine coast. Alternately, you can find a quiet sandy stretch at Ferry Beach State Park.
Step5
Consider freshwater lakes. If you aren't on the coast but are trying to find a quiet Maine beach, look to the Sebago Lake State Park in Casco or the Range Pond State Park in Poland Spring. Both have large sandy beaches on freshwater lakes.
