How to Find a Nude Beach in Uruguay

If you want to sunbathe or swim nude during your next visit to Uraguay, there is only one place to visit. Follow these steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

1. Playa Chihuahua is located 12 miles north of Punta del Este. A nearby airport offers easy access to the area. You can reach the beach by car or 30-minute COT bus ride from Punta del Este or Maldonado.
2. You will find few amenities at the beach. There is a snack bar (relatively expensive) and a lifeguard station, and you can rent beach umbrellas and recliners. You can also use the portable bathrooms.
3. A sign designates the nudist area, but you will encounter nude sunbathers all over the beach.

Tips & Warnings

• At certain times of the year, the water at this beach is crowded with jellyfish.
