How to Make Your Own Lemoncello

Lemoncello is a traditional after dinner drink originally served in Italy. But you can make your own Lemoncello at home. Homemade lemoncello is often stronger, with a more pronounced lemon flavor than store-bought versions.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 15 lemons
  • 2 bottles of vodka, 750 ml
  • 4 cups of sugar
  • 5 cups of water
  • sugar

  • lemons
  • 2 bottles of vodka, 750 ml
  • bowl
  • water
  • ice
  • large pot
  • large container with lid
  • strainer
  • bottles or jars with lids
Step1
Peel the lemons and put into a bowl.
Step2
Fill a resealable container with one bottle of vodka and lemons.
Step3
Seal the container and let it sit in a cool, dark place for one month.
Step4
Boil the sugar and water until the mix thickens in a large pot.
Step5
Add the lemon mixture and the other bottle of vodka.
Step6
Let it cool, and then strain the mixture into bottles or jars and throw away the lemon pulp.
Step7
Serve in tall glasses with ice and garnish with a lemon slice.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use glass containers whenever possible, to retain the most taste.
  • The lemons should be medium-sized for best tate.
  • Do not set the lemon mixture in the sun.
  • Don't drink and drive.
