How to Make a Mint Julep

Make a mint julep and enjoy a favorite drink of movie stars and southern gentlemen that has a fresh taste but a traditional history. Introduced to the north in the 18th century by Henry Clay, this drink has a way of finding its way into the most suave and sophisticated settings.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 5 mint leaves
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • ice
  • 3 oz. bourbon
  • bourbon
  • water
  • mint leaves
  • ice
  • glassware
  • muddler
  • sugar
Step1
Get a clean 10 oz. rocks glass and put in the mint leaves.
Step2
Add the sugar and a splash of water. Muddle 4 mint leaves and the sugar together.
Step3
Fill the glass with ice and pour in the bourbon.
Step4
Garnish with the final mint leaf.

  • Fresh mint leaves are integral to this drink.
