Sangria comes from the Spanish word "sangre," meaning "blood," but it's not a drink exclusively for vampires. Serve a sangria at your next party; you can ladle this sweet, fortified wine right from the punch bowl.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 orange
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 oz. brandy
  • 2 cups club soda
  • Lemon
  • Orange
  • Brandy
  • Red wine
  • Club soda
  • Sugar
  • Pitcher
  • Ladle
Step1
Fill a clean pitcher with the bottle of wine.
Step2
Squeeze the juice from the lemon and orange into the pitcher.
Step3
Add the sugar and the brandy.
Step4
Cover the pitcher with plastic wrap and let it sit in the fridge overnight.
Step5
Top off with club soda just before serving.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use ½ cup bottled lemon juice or orange juice in place of fresh-squeezed juice if necessary.
  • Be sure to cover the pitcher overnight; otherwise, the sangria will absorb odors from the fridge.
  • Don't drink and drive.
