How to Remove Ads From Your Slashdot Account

Paid subscribers to Slashdot have the privilege of viewing ad-free pages. In order to remove ads, you'll have to buy the ability to suppress them. A subscription is inexpensive and well worth the investment if you're a frequent user.

Wipe Out Banner Headlines From Your Slashdot

1. Log in to your Slashdot account by entering your username and password in the indicated fields on Slashdot's homepage (see Resources below).
2. Click on "Subscribe" on your account's homepage. You can also access the same page by choosing the "Preferences" link and selecting Subscription from the submenu.
3. Click the "Buy Pages for [Your Username]" button.
4. Pick your poison from the ensuing payment options page. You can pony up using PayPal or a major credit card. If you have both an active PayPal account as well as a valid credit card, choose the former, which is more secure.
5. Decide on the length of time for your subscription and enter it in the indicated field.
6. Click "Continue." You will be redirected to a screen prompting you to enter your PayPal or credit card account information.
7. Fill out your billing information. For your safety, fill in only the fields that are designated as required.
8. Continue by clicking on the "Purchase Subscription" option. Make sure to record any transaction confirmation information you receive.
9. Return to your Slashdot account's homepage and access the "Preferences" menu via the link provided.
10. Go to your Subscription preferences.
11. Select the number of ads you want to suppress per day. To remove all ads, set your ads per day limit to 0 and select the "No Ads" options each of the three time it's offered.

Tips & Warnings

• Don't worry if you happen to see an errant ad: It won't count against your subscription. If you're absolutely positive you're seeing ads where they shouldn't be and they're still counting against your account, contact Slashdot staff at once.
• Remember that if you remove all the ads from your Slashdot pages, you'll use up your subscription faster.
