Renewing your domain name with GoDaddy is a simple process you can do online. You may also make changes to your current account while renewing a domain name. In addition, if you'd like to purchase additional domain names, you can do so at the GoDaddy Web site.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Online form of payment
  • Previous domain with GoDaddy

Renew Your Domain

Step1
Start at the homepage for GoDaddy (see Resources below). This is where you'll renew your domain. Set aside up to 30 minutes to renew your account.
Step2
Move the mouse over the green options area and settle over "Domains." A menu will drop down.
Step3
Slide the mouse down the menu until it is hovering over "Renew a Domain."
Step4
Click on "Renew a Domain" to be guided to the area to enter your Login and Password.
Step5
Decide whether or not to add any features to your current package by looking over the domain information for your account. If you'll be making changes, set aside additional time to upload new features. To make any changes to your previous account, select the available upgrades you want.
Step6
Update your credit card information if necessary. Otherwise use the information on file to make the payment.
Step7
Get help with any problems by accessing the GoDaddy Support Center (see Resources below).

Take Advantage of GoDaddy Domain Services

Step1
Sign up for free email when you renew your domain name with GoDaddy. The free email service allows you to have an email address that includes your domain name (yourname@yourdomainname.com).
Step2
Consider taking advantage of GoDaddy's free blog features. If you choose, you can use GoDaddy's software to adding blogging to your Web site, which will allow you to take advantage of their templates and media upload capabilities. GoDaddy also allows RSS (Really Simple Syndication), so your readers can subscribe to your blog.

Tips & Warnings

  • Stay secure by changing your online password with GoDaddy every few months. They recommend using a combination of lower case and upper case letters, a variety of characters and at least one number.
  • Eliminate the negative effect of spyware by adding anti-Spyware software to your computer. Spyware not only shows outsiders what sites you are going to but allows them to access private information entered through your computer.
