How to Share Music With Podcasts Using Del.icio.us

In addition to Web sites and blogs, the social bookmarking Web site del.icio.us can also be used to share podcasts and music. You can send podcasts to friends and family in your network or browse and share music and podcasts with other del.icio.us users.

Things You’ll Need:

• Computer with Internet connection
• Internet browser compatible with del.icio.us

Register and Become a User on Del.icio.us

1. Start at the del.icio.us homepage (see Resources below). Click on the "Get Started" link.
2. Enter the required registration information, including a username, your real name, a password and an active email address to set up your account.
3. Install the del.icio.us buttons on your Internet browser's toolbar, or access your account by logging in on the homepage.

Save Music and Podcasts as Bookmarks

4. Use the del.icio.us Tag icon on your toolbar to bookmark any Web sites or podcasts you would like to save to your del.icio.us account.
5. Organize your bookmarks by creating tags that identify and describe what you've saved. For example, you might tag Monster.com with Jobsearch or Post Resumes.
6. Bookmark individual podcasts or podcast specific sites using the Tag icon on your toolbar or by entering the URL on your del.icio.us user homepage.

Share Music and Podcasts Using Del.icio.us

7. Create a del.icio.us network by adding other users to your network page. Click on "Your Network" to manually add usernames, or simply click on the names of users who share similar interests or bookmarks you would like to explore.
8. Explore other users' bookmarks to discover music or podcasts. Browsing through the bookmarks of users you've identified as having similar interests to you allows you to randomly share podcasts.
9. Discover new podcasts by using the "Podcast" tag as a search tool. Enter the term Podcasts in the search field and discover all of the sites that del.icio.us users have tagged with that term.
10. Share your bookmarks by choosing the "Links" option when bookmarking a site. When you find a podcast or music site you would like to bookmark, you have the option of sending it to someone in your network by choosing the link that says "For:username" under the "Your Network" label.
