How to Use Yahoo! Search on A Cell Phone

If you're someone who is always on the go, chances are you usually have your cell phone close by. With today's advanced technologies, cell phone users are able to browse the Web, check and send email and even access Internet search engines. Yahoo!, one of the most popular portals on the Web, offers a fast and friendly service for Web users called Yahoo! Mobile. If you'd like to use your cell phone to search for various sites, follow these few steps and let Yahoo! do the rest.

Things You'll Need:

  • Web enabled cell phone
  • Internet connection
  • Computer
  • Calling plan with Web access capabilities

    Use Yahoo! Search on Your Cell Phone Via Computer

  1. Step 1

    Visit the Yahoo! Mobile Web site (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

    Choose the "Mobile Web" tab.

  3. Step 3

    Type in your full cell phone number, area code included.

  4. Step 4

    Click the "Send To My Phone" button to execute.

  5. Step 5

    Check the resulting text message on your cell phone.

  6. Step 6

    Follow the instructions and click the link provided in the text message to access Yahoo's Mobile homepage on your cell phone.

  7. Step 7

    Select your search option: choose Web, Images or Local.

  8. Step 8

    Type in the search parameters and click "Search."

  9. Use Yahoo! Search on Your Cell Phone Without Your Computer

  10. Step 1

    Type the URL "m.yahoo.com" into your cell phone Web browser.

  11. Step 2

    Select your search category and input the search parameters.

  12. Step 3

    Click "Search."

  13. Step 4

    Click on any of the results to access the corresponding Web page.

Tips & Warnings
  • You do not need a Yahoo! account to perform Web searches.
  • If you have further questions about using Yahoo! Mobile, see their comprehensive Help Section (see Resources below).
  • Verizon service has trouble launching the Mobile Web system, so Verizon users should follow the directions under section two.
  • Keep in mind that Yahoo! will keep a record of your transactions for marketing purposes. To learn more, visit the Yahoo! Privacy Policy page (see Resources below).
  • Not sure if your cell phone is Web enabled? Check with your carrier before proceeding. You need both a Web enabled phone and a calling plan that supports Web usage.
