How to Search Yahoo! Maps on Your Cell Phone

Yahoo! Mobile is a versatile and powerful mobile application that lets you access the dynamic and user-friendly map services provided by Yahoo! right on your cell phone. It's a simple matter to access the same robust functionality that Yahoo! Maps offers on the Web via your cell phone.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Calling plan that allows you to surf the Web
  • Internet connection
  • Computer
  • Web-enabled cell phone

    Search Yahoo! Maps on Your Cell Phone Via the Web

  1. Step 1

    Visit the Yahoo! Mobile Web site (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

    Click the Mobile Web tab.

  3. Step 3

    Enter your phone number in the form provided.

  4. Step 4

    Click "Send To My Phone."

  5. Step 5

    Access the resulting text message on your cell phone.

  6. Step 6

    Follow the instructions and the link provided in the text message. Click the Driving Directions link to complete the process.

  7. Search Yahoo! Maps on Your Cell Phone Without the Web

  8. Step 1

    Type "m.yahoo.com" into your cell phone Web browser and load the page.

  9. Step 2

    Scroll down the list of options and click "Driving Directions."

  10. Step 3

    Type the starting and destination addresses into the blank spaces provided. Or, if you want a basic map of a specific location, just enter one address.

  11. Step 4

    Click "Get Directions" and wait for your map to load.

Tips & Warnings
  • You'll need a Yahoo! account to search maps on your cell phone. If you don't yet have an account, click "Sign Up" on the Yahoo! Mobile homepage to complete this free process.
  • Got questions? Visit the Yahoo! Mobile Help Section.
  • Verizon cell phone users, see the "Search Yahoo Maps on Your Cell Phone Without the Web" section for the best results. Accessing it via the Web doesn't always work properly.
  • Yahoo! Mobile does ask for personal information. Be sure and read the Privacy Policy to know your rights before proceeding.
  • A Web-enabled phone doesn't automatically guarantee you'll be able to search maps. Verify that your calling plan supports Web activity if you're not already sure it does.
