Perhaps you're a big fan of the Yahoo! Maps site, and you have a Web site or two that you'd like to add some links to. It's a relatively simple process to integrate Yahoo! Maps into your existing Web sites. You can link directly to a location map or plot specific driving directions between any two U.S.-based locations.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Web site editing software
  • Computer with Internet access

Map Your Selected Address at Yahoo! Maps

Step1
Log on to the Yahoo! Maps homepage (see Resources below).
Step2
Enter your selected address into the blank boxes under "Get Map and Directions" for driving directions, or type the address into the section under "Find on the Map" for basic maps.
Step3
Click "Go" to load the map.
Step4
Highlight the URL in the address bar and copy it.

Integrate Map URLs Into Your Web Sites

Step1
Load your Web site editing software.
Step2
Access the page you wish to integrate a map link into.
Step3
Create a link text that your visitors will click to go to the map. Yahoo! prefers that you either link the address text directly to the map or place links that read "Map" or "Driving Directions" near the selected address.
Step4
Paste the URL and create a hyperlink by following the instructions of your specific publishing software. In most cases, you'll click the Link icon.
Step5
Save all changes and updates.
Step6
Publish your Web site or sites by following the directions of your specific Web site editing software.

Tips & Warnings

  • For additional directions, use the Yahoo! Maps features Reverse Directions or Roundtrip. The resulting URL will always link to that specific map.
  • For further assistance using Yahoo! Maps, visit the Help section.
  • Instead of copying and pasting URLs, you can also use the Send function to email yourself the map and link.
  • Repeat the process below for all of the addresses you wish to map.
  • Follow the terms of use carefully (see Resources below). Violations may be flagged by Yahoo!, and you could be asked to remove the links or change your procedure.
