Snowy Range, located just 32 miles west of Laramie, Wyoming, is an ideal ski area for families and beginner skiers. You will find short lift lines despite some of the most inexpensive lift ticket prices in the area. With the season opening around Thanksgiving weekend every year and ending in April, planning a trip to Snowy Range is easy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Book a Ski Trip to Snowy Range

Step1
Stay in Laramie or Centennial, Wyoming. Expect to stay in a mid-level chain or local motel or a cozy bed-and-breakfast inn that specializes in lodging for ski enthusiasts. You can generally expect inexpensive to moderate rates. Budget rooms are also available at some chain motels.
Step2
Visit the Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area Web site to see a list of accommodations in the area (see Resources below) or go to the Albany County Tourism Board Web site (see Resources below). You can also call (800) GO-2-SNOW for assistance planning or booking your trip.

Arrange Transportation to Snowy Range

Step1
Book a flight into Laramie's General Brees Field airport (LAR). Most likely your travel will involve a connection through Denver, as there are few non-stop flights to Laramie from most locations in the United States.
Step2
Travel along I-80 from Laramie and access Snowy Range via exit 311 (Snowy Range Road). From the exit, go west on Highway 130. Medicine Bow/ Routt National Forest, the home of Snowy Range Ski Area, is about 32 miles down the highway.

Plan Your Ski Trip to Snowy Range

Step1
Ski daily during the winter holiday season at Snowy Range. The lifts in the ski area operate on weekends until shortly before Christmas, then seven days a week until the first of the year. The ski area changes to a Thursday-through-Sunday schedule for the rest of the season after the New Year.
Step2
Reserve tickets and your ski or snowboarding equipment by calling ahead. The reservations line is available on the resort's Web site, as is their contact email, which may also be used to book lift tickets and rental equipment.
Step3
Find Snowy Range tucked away in the beautiful Medicine Bow/Routt National Forest. Here you will find four chair lifts and a surface lift to over 23 trails on 250 skiable acres of terrain. The vertical drop is 991 feet and the top elevation of the mountain is 9,994 feet.
Step4
Brush up on your elementary ski skills at Snowy Range. The majority of trails are ideal for intermediate skill levels, giving beginners the chance to improve and experts the opportunity to fine tune their skills.
