One of the oldest ski resorts in Wyoming and perhaps the United States, Snow King Ski Area was founded in 1939. This small ski area is a favorite among locals and offers some of the best skiing around with few crowds.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Book a Ski Trip to Snow King

Step1
Stay at the resort hotel. The resort has 204 rooms that come with typical amenities like coffee makers and views of the gorgeous Grand Tetons. As a bonus, fresh-air lovers can actually open the hotel's windows. Rates during ski season tend to be expensive.
Step2
Book a stay in a condominium. Reservations for hotel and condo accommodations can be made through the resort's Web site (see Resources below) or by calling (800) 522.KING.
Step3
Choose your luxury level. Condos are divided into Silver, Gold and Platinum categories. Platinum condos are both extremely luxurious and quite expensive, particularly during peak periods. Gold condos are considered deluxe and are also generally expensive. Silver condos are not as luxurious or expensive, but tend to fill quickly. They can't be booked online.

Arrange Transportation to Snow King

Step1
Fly into Jackson, Wyoming, when you book a flight from many cities within the United States. There are daily flights from Denver, Salt Lake City, Dallas and many others.
Step2
Take a shuttle from the airport to your hotel, if it's provided. Otherwise, you can take an inexpensive taxi ride into town.
Step3
Rent a car only if you plan on visiting other resorts in the area. Remember you can walk right up to the slopes of Snow King.

Plan Your Ski Trip to Snow King

Step1
Walk up to the slopes of Snow King from the town of Jackson. This resort may be the only one within easy walking distance of the town.
Step2
Find 400 skiable acres and 16 trails at Snow King. The slopes can be reached from five lifts, three of which are chair lifts, while the other two are surface. The vertical drop is 1,571 feet.
Step3
Work up the nerve to ski Snow King. Locals contend that if you can ski the black diamond trails of this challenging mountain, you can ski anything.
Step4
Board or ski at the area's terrain park, where you will find one half-pipe for practicing freestyle moves on snowboards or skis.
Step5
Take the long way around and cross-country ski through 3 km of groomed terrain at Snow King Ski Area.
Step6
Tube down the mountain at Snow King. King Tubes has been offering tubing at this ski area for over 10 years and you can participate most afternoons from 4 to 8 p.m.
